The bear-viewing tour departs from the airport in Homer, from where you will fly past glaciers and volcanoes along the rugged coastlines of Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park. A typical day tour departs usually around 8 a.m. but the departure time may change slightly to work around the timing of the tides to allow for the best viewing, and allow enough time in the park before the high tide forces a departure from the beach.
The flight to the bear-viewing area will take around an hour. When the weather allows, a flight over the top of an active volcano is the norm. Many clients say the flight over to the bear viewing area is worth it by itself. The flight to the bear-viewing area will take around an hour.
