Day 2

Enjoy a full day of game viewing activities at Chitabe Camp. Chitabe Camp is located in the Chitabe Concession, which covers 22 000 hectares of pristine Okavango Delta wilderness. This unique area harbours a massive variety of habitats within close proximity giving rise to a surprising diversity of species. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home to an abundant array of herbivores: giraffe, buffalo, red lechwe, tsessebe, impala and elephant, which in turn support the larger predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog.

Game viewing tops the agenda here. Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers reveal the rich wildlife of the area from predators to prey. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day such as civet, genet and bushbabies, as well as owls and perhaps leopard.

Walking safaris with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things you miss when traveling by vehicle. (depending on availability of a qualified guide)

The Kalahari is famous for its clear night skies, and with no light pollution it is the ideal spot from which to view the incredible formations of the stars and planets. Our guides are also known to dabble with astronomy and will take you on a tour through the constellations.

Day 4

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Little Vumbura Plains Camp. Due to its location, Little Vumbura offers a number of ways to observe the spectacular wildlife of this diverse concession.

Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 Land Rovers allow you to get close to animals in the savannah areas where lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo along with extensive plains game roam. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. Porcupine, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and lesser bushbaby are just some of these.

Explore the Okavango by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) often providing up close and personal sightings of tiny frogs and exciting birdlife. Water-level dependent, boating is another idyllic form of water wildlife viewing. Sights of hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways.

A nature walk with a skilled, armed guide is a wonderful way of getting close to nature and observing the smaller creatures and plants you miss when traveling by vehicle. (on request and subject to availability of a qualified guide)

Visit one of the traditional villages of the Okavango Community Trust, meet the people and learn about the local culture. (additional cost)

Day 7

Enjoy a full day of game viewing activities at Duma Tau Camp. With incredible habitat diversity, Linyanti is a haven for wildlife, on land and water. Game viewing and river excursions are on top of the agenda here.

Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers reveal the rich wildlife of the area where predators and elephant are often the highlight. Plains game and diverse birdlife also offer fantastic sightings. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. These often include lesser bushbaby, spring hare, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and, if you are extremely lucky, the elusive pangolin!

Nature walks with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things you miss when traveling by vehicle. (depending on availability of a qualified guide)

There are a number of platforms and hides from which to view and photograph animals and birds. One of the best hides is right at the source of the Savute Channel, from which many species of game and birdlife can be seen.

Water levels permitting, explore the Linyanti River by boat or barge, the latter perfect for picnics or sundowners or searching out those elusive birds so prevalent in the channels.

Seasonal fishing is permitted on a catch-and-release basis. The camp has a small stock of basic rods and reels.

Birding is outstanding here, from Okavango specials to mopane woodland species. The Savute Channel is famous for its high concentration of eagles and raptors; this area is internationally recognised as an IBA (Important Bird Area).

Day 9

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel by a Luxury Trips representative for your scheduled guided tour of Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. David Livingstone was the first European to visit the Falls, and named it after Queen Victoria. To the locals, it is known as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – The Smoke that Thunders – an accurate description of what happens when the waters of the Zambezi River plunge over the 1700 metre wide and 100-metre deep chasm, creating a shower of spray and a deafening noise. From February to May each year, the Victoria Falls are in full flood and 500 million litres of water tumble over the edge into a series of gorges each minute! After a briefing and explanation of the Fall, your guide accompanies you along the 1.7 kilometre scenic pathways of the rainforest, stopping at numerous viewpoints to gaze at the Falls. You will then be dropped off at your hotel where the afternoon will be yours at leisure.

Later in the afternoon, you will be collected from your hotel by a Luxury Trips representative and taken on a sunset cruise down the Zambezi River. Enjoy sundowners and snacks while this tranquil wildlife cruise floats you along the Zambezi River above the Falls. You’ll have the finest vantage point from which to watch hippo, crocodiles and other animals which come down to the river’s edge in the early evening, to slake their thirst. You will be captivated by the sun’s dying rays as they cast a burnt-orange glow which shimmers on the river.
