Depart for Fes, visiting Meknes, one of the four Imperial Cities, with a fascinating history, the excavation site of Volubilis, and the quaint village of Moulay Idriss, en route. Visit a local farm and sample traditional Roman recipes made from local ingredients. Reach Fes this evening and overnight Dar Roumana or similar.

Day 3

Day 3 Fes sightseeing

Spend a half day with your private local guide, exploring Morocco’s fourth largest city. Your tour will showcase the alluring charm of the medina, the colorful streets and souks and the rich tapestry of life that exists within its ancient walls. Gain access to ancient palaces and Islamic gardens, venture into the depths of the tanneries, observe weavers at their loom and discover hidden workshops where generations of artisans ply their individual trades and adapt century old techniques to a modern market.

Day 4

Day 4 Tasting Trail & Mount Zalagh Excursion

Wind your way through the streets and souks with a local Fes food expert. Start by exploring the fresh food souks, the honey souk, a traditional farnatchis, the spice El attarryia and the henna souk. Try traditional Moroccan foods including dried meats, milawi, harsha, briwats, spicy sardines, and fresh goat cheese, finishing off with a visit to a traditional Moroccan tea house. Head out of town to Mount Zalagh. Experience not only the warmth and friendliness of the mountain people, but also see the beauty and simplicity of the traditional Berber adobe/pise architecture. A picnic lunch will be provided Berber style.

Day 5 Fes / Marrakesh

Head through the Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh, which is not only one of Morocco’s most aesthetic cities, but one of its most lively and exciting! Reach Marrakesh this evening and overnight at Riad Adore or similar.

Day 6

Day 6 Marrakesh Sightseeing

Explore Marrakesh with your private guide on a full day tour. Founded almost 1000 years ago, Marrakesh is a feast for the senses, and has remained at the heart of Moroccan life ever since. The Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque in Marrakesh. The kasbah quarter is where you find the 12th Century gateway the Bab Agnaou and the famous necropolis of the Saadian kings, the Saadian Tombs. From here you head to the Jewish quarter to visit the impressive ruins of the 16th Century Badii Palace before heading to the 19th Century Bahia Palace, which is a wonderful example of Moroccan architecture.

Day 7

Day 7 Marrakesh / High Atlas Mountains

This morning you will head out of the city to spend some time in a small village and experience the countryside first hand. Learn some of the daily tasks from baking your own bread, learning to make your own tagine, cooking on coals, milking the goats, going for water at the well and making mint tea. Following your cooking Class with the Berbers, continue to the High Atlas Mountains where you will stay at Kasbah Bab Ourika or similar.

Day 8

Day 8 High Atlas Mountains

Enjoy your day in the Toubkal National Park, where you will find Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Morocco and at the base the traditional Berber Village of Imlil. Be introduced to your mountain guide who will be with you for the day to explore the region. Start your trek with the Mizik Pass a wild and totally undeveloped crossing between two populated valleys situated within the Toubkal National Park at nearly 2000m above sea level. A steady hike up through juniper forests offers spectacular views over the Berber dwellings of Imlil, the Tamatert Pass and up to the Tacheddirt Pass and the top of the ski slopes at Oukaimeden, the highest ski resort in North Africa.

Return to Marrakesh and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
